Can kids fly?

Yes, kids are welcome. Per FAA regulations, if the child has not reached their second birthday, they may sit on your lap and ride for free. If the child has reached their second birthday, they must occupy a seat. We can provide children's ear protection if needed.

How do I book a flight?

Our online reservation system is complete with live availability. While bookings can be taken over the phone, we may be out flying, and unable to answer your call. 

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please submit a cancellation or reschedule request by calling 530-544-2211 or by sending an email to info@tahoehelicopters.us. Cancellations require at least 24hrs notice for a full refund. Cancellations less than 24hrs from the scheduled departure will be subject to a 50% charge. Cancellations by us, for reasons such as weather, will be rescheduled if possible; if rescheduling is not possible, a full refund will be issued.

Should I arrive early?

Arrive 5 to 10 mins before your scheduled departure time to check in and receive a short safety briefing. Traffic conditions across South Lake Tahoe can vary, be sure to plan accordingly.

Is it cold/hot in the helicopter?

The helicopter has cabin heating for those cold winter months. In the summer, vents bring in plenty of the best fresh air you can find, keeping it more than cool enough. Wear what’s comfortable for driving in your car.

Can I bring my camera?

YES! We insist! Ask your pilot if you'd like to have your door removed for the flight.

Should I book through a third-party site like Viator or directly with Tahoe Helicopters?

Tahoe Helicopters is the direct operator — our pilots fly the tours, and our team knows Lake Tahoe. When you book directly at tahoehelicopters.us or call (530) 544-2211, you're working with the people who actually run the business. Third-party booking sites list our tours on their platforms, but they don't operate the aircraft and don't provide firsthand knowledge of the experience.

Can I ask questions about the flight route or specific landmarks before booking?

You can reach us by calling (530) 544-2211 or emailing info@tahoehelicopters.us. The office is run by our pilots, so they may not always be available to answer the phone immediately. If you reach our recording, please call back in a few minutes or send an email and we will respond as soon as we are able. Third-party booking sites can't provide firsthand knowledge of the flight routes and landmarks because they don't operate the aircraft.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations require at least 24 hours' notice for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours of departure are subject to a 50% charge. If Tahoe Helicopters cancels your tour due to weather, maintenance, or other operational reasons, your flight will be rescheduled if possible. If rescheduling is not possible, a full refund will be issued.

What's different about booking directly vs. through a third-party site?

When you book directly with Tahoe Helicopters, we have your contact information to communicate with you before your flight — weather updates, scheduling questions, and other details. When you book through a third-party site, the transaction is handled by their automated system and your contact details stay with them. We never receive your email address, and we're unable to follow up with you directly after your tour.

What if my group is larger than 3 people?

Our Robinson R44 seats three passengers plus the pilot. For groups larger than three, we fly sequential back-to-back flights so everyone gets to experience the tour together. Contact us at (530) 544-2211 or info@tahoehelicopters.us to coordinate scheduling for your group.
